I feel like I should be prancing through a beautiful field of grass, singing lyrics to Disney’s Frozen. “When life gets rough, I like to hold onto my dream, of relaxing in the summer sun, just lettin’ off steam.” But before I relax in the sun, I need to prep for summer.
This pale Tall Mom has some serious issues when it comes to showing off my legs for three reasons:
1. I have sensitive skin
2. I have dark hair and pale skin, so my legs look like they have five o’clock shadow if I don’t keep up with them. (sexy, right?)
3.The sun doesn’t kiss my legs into a tan glow. It burns them alive.
So I thought I’d share with you my summer leg care tips. Because the heat is here ladies, and we need to rock our beautiful legs this Fourth of July! Plus, the scorching sun can do a number on your skin, so I’ll give you a few tips on proper sun protection.
Step 1. Prepare your legs.
If you’re anything like me, shaving your legs during the colder months isn’t really a priority. It takes a MAJOR backseat.
So that first month or so of summertime when I’m activity shaving each day can be really rough on my skin. There’s nothing more embarrassing than having razor burn on your leg or bikini area.
Plus, it hurts, especially when you go into the salty water of the ocean. So make sure to prep your legs with a quality shaving cream, like Skintimate Skin Therapy.
Step 2. Shave with a great women’s razor like the Schick Hydro Silk Sensitive Razor
(plus it’s teal, which is my favorite color!)
I am always tempted to use those cheap throwaway razors when I’m on vacation.
But truth be told, that’s usually one of the few times I’m actually baring my legs. The last thing I need is a crappy shave! Your smooth legs will thank you time and time again – and you’ll feel smooth like a baby’s behind!
Step 3. Protect.
Wear sunblock. Seriously.
I know way too many women who have had melanoma, especially women my age. Read about my friend Ali’s story – here. She has a link to pictures that show you which moles are dangerous and need to get checked out ASAP.
My mom had skin cancer on her face, and another friend of mine had it on her foot. The sun isn’t shy, even on cloudy days.
After spending so much time working out at the gym, going for walks, and summerizing your legs with proper shaving, please please please don’t forget to protect them with some SPF Lotion, like Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration.
I found all of the above items at my local Walmart.
Plus they had this sign – which seals the deal about sunscreen:
If you’re like me – be proud and rock your pale skin 🙂

I know what you mean about the 5 o'clock shadow! When I first bare my legs for the summer and they're so pale, you can see a hint of hair everywhere. Thanks for the summer shaving tips! #client
Yes! It's bad news! Thankfully these items saved the day and I was able to go to the beach today!
