I was walking by our local butcher shop, and I was in terrible pain. Each step was agony, and I felt like my journey, which was only a half mile at that point, was never going to end. I made a terrible mistake.
I had gone for a walk in my sneakers, without socks on….
Earlier this morning I was reading through some of my posts from last year, and saw one about making healthy choices. I read through the list of my health goals, which were to walk 10,000 steps a day and sleep 8 hours a night, and realized that it’s time to get back on the horse!
Granted, I need to go easy on myself, I did just give birth to an adorable baby girl after all.  But now that my tiny baby is two months old, I’ve decided that it is time for me to get back into the healthy swing of things, and set some new goals.

Sleeping:

Lets start with a positive one, shall we? Because I am currently rocking at my sleep goal!

After making it though having a colicky baby, and my suffering from postpartum depression, our household fully appreciates sleep. I am getting in a great amount of sleep each night, which is a miracle seeing as how I have a newborn baby. Don’t hate me, I promise, I paid my dues with our first child!

I try to sleep when Felicity sleeps, and I go to bed at 9:30pm.  So even though I still wake up occasionally throughout the night to feed our two month old baby, I make sure I have an early bedtime and nap at least once during the day.

Eating:
Eating healthier is going to be my hardest goal to accomplish. My tastebuds were on strike during my pregnancy, and I ate a ton of comfort food.

To quote my husband, “I really like desserts, and they like me right back!”

Now I need to retrain myself to like healthier foods…which isn’t easy for me.
Tall Dad and I are reordering some Pre-Made Paleo I meals, which are delicious! I’m also hoping to make some more crockpot friendly meals. Those always look easy on Pinterest, right?
If you have any suggestions about eating healthier, all while juggling a toddler and newborn, I’d love to hear them!
Exercising:
I used to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I felt like a rockstar. Now I’m just tired, sweaty, and my thighs rub together when I walk – which makes me want to walk less. It’s a vicious cycle!

Last week I tried to go for a good walk, and the aforementioned blisters appeared on my foot.

I was unprepared. I didn’t wear socks.
So I came home, barefoot, only to find out that I didn’t have any Band-aids either.
This was unacceptable!

So I drove to Walgreens, in flip flops, and picked up a couple of types of Band-aids and Neosporin for my foot.

While there, I grabbed a couple of other items that I needed – including Zyrtec. (I get wicked bad allergies in the fall, and I will probably need to start taking this medicine in just a couple of weeks – especially if I want to accomplish my goal of exercising regularly.)

Tracking my health:

In addition to making healthy choices, I like to track them with my Apple Watch and various apps.
The Walgreens’ Balance Rewards actually rewards me for being active and making healthy choices – and syncs automatically with some of my other health related apps. Maybe I will have to use some of my rewards to buy myself some more socks so I don’t run out again!
You can earn 2,000 Walgreens Balance Rewards points ($2 reward) when you buy any two J&J Healthy Essentials participating products from 7/26/15-8/29/15!

So I’m going to keep track of my goals, get rewarded for doing the things I already want to do, and always make sure to wear socks with sneakers! Sounds like some do-able goals, right?
