I adore Farm Fresh RI – which is a non-profit that helps connect farms with markets and consumers. One of my favorite things that they do is their Veggie Boxes.  Our first Winter Veggie Box was delivered today, and I squealed with delight when I opened the box and saw a bright Purple Cauliflower!

Here’s what was inside and where it was from:

I’ll be getting a new fun filled Veggie Box every single week during November and December!  Farm Fresh’s Veggie Box Blog always includes a handy dandy cheat-sheet on how and where to store the items.

Cauliflower
Keep in a plastic bag in the crisper for a few days
Spaghetti Squash and Potatoes
Store in the pantry for a couple of weeks.
Cabbage
Store in the refrigerator for a week.  Eat soon after cutting because the flavor will diminish.
Arugula and Tatsoi
Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for a few days.
Celeriac
Remove stems and leaves and keep in a plastic bag in the refrigerator in the crisper for a couple of weeks.
So it looks like I’ll need to find a way to use the cauliflower, arugula and tatsoi within the first few days. Luckily, the veggie box also comes with recipe suggestions – because I am clueless on how to cook a celeriac!
What are some of your favorite winter veggies?
