I am waiting to hear back about some very important blood work results. Depending upon what my doctor says, I may be having my baby girl a bit earlier than planned…meaning in just a few days. I’ve been sick and stressed for more days than I’d like to admit, but this weekend I took some time to clean my heart, my mind, my soul, and a bit of my house 😉 Getting ready for a baby, especially one that may arrive ahead of schedule, can be exhausting and exciting.
After all of these tests and discussions, I suddenly felt the nesting urge kick in. The only problem is, I don’t have a ton of energy thanks to being sick and exceptionally pregnant.
Well, there’s that, and I honestly hate cleaning aside from vacuuming.
We decided to tackle a few small tasks, with Tall Dad began washing our enormous pile of laundry, and I was on vacuum duty.
Cleaning Time…
I turned on our vacuum and and it growled a terrible growl at me! It was such a loud sound that it scared my cats and my toddler!
After turning over the $400 piece of plastic, I found the source of the sound.
It was hair. Mine and our two cats’.Being that it’s springtime, my kitties are shedding a ton of fur each day. And as for me, I probably shed a pound of hair on a daily basis.
Cleaning the Vacuum…
I tried using scissors to cut the hair out, but it was too tricky. Then I came up with what I think is a brilliant idea – a letter opener!
But after 30 minutes of cutting, ripping, pulling and cleaning, my vacuum brush still didn’t look squeaky clean.
I’ll be honest with you, I grew incredibly frustrated. Why does a device which is supposed to clean need me to clean it?!? It’s 2015 for Pete’s sake! Why do I need to clean the brushes of my vacuum?
Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Time for a New Vacuum…
Thankfully there is a smarter way to clean and vacuum – with the Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® (These are currently available at Walmart stores nationwide, and just under $200!)
This vacuum is a game changer because it has a self-cleaning brushroll – which removes tangles with the touch of a button. It also has a 27-food automatic cord rewind – which helps for quick and easy storage.
My other vacuum cleaner didn’t have these things, even though I had just purchased it this past Christmas season.
You know what that’s like? It’s like buying a new car with manual windows.
Technology makes our lives easier and more efficient, and this pregnant mom needs all the help she can get!
This video below shows you how easy the new Eureka Brushroll Clean™ with SuctionSeal® is – and how the brushroll clean button works.
So I put this new vacuum to work, and the results were crazy good!
Plus, I can rest assure that I won’t have to spend over 30 minutes cutting out my hair with a letter opener EVER again!
Maternity Photo Session…
The next day we met with Lisa Gendron of Agroterra Photography, and spent some time celebrating pregnancy and our soon to be new tiny baby.
I never took pregnancy photos with Itty Bitty, and have always regretted not having them done. During my whole first pregnancy (and honestly this one as well) I have pretty much avoided the camera. I didn’t feel beautiful, at all.
But I realized that I didn’t just need to clean my house for my new bundle of joy – but I also needed to clean my heart and mind. I needed to be ready to celebrate this lovely new life that will be entering the world in the month of May.
Spending Time with Baby Number 1…
After our photo session, and a three hour nap, we took our son to a friend’s birthday party – which took place at Roger William’s Park Carousel. Rhys rode the horses for hours, and it filled my heart with so much joy to see he and Tall Dad sharing special time together.
I watched my two favorite men smiling on the carousel as I massaged my bulging belly (which has been very active with Braxton Hicks!) and suddenly wave of accomplishment flooded over me.
Sure, I wasn’t able to accomplish everything on my “Nesting To-Do List,” and our baby may be here before we get it all done, but I had gotten some important things done.
I found an easier and more efficient way to clean my house, documented special memories, and spent precious time with our son! 🙂
Wish me luck this week – hopefully I will be pregnant for a little while longer! Talk soon friends,

That sounds like an awesome vacuum! I have a Eureka and love mine.
My great grandmother had an ancient Eureka. That thing weighed a ton. BUT. It could suck the paint off the walls, and she used it until she passed on.
wow that was a lot of mess! This seems like a great vacuum, I sure could use one with this type of power!
Oh boy do I ever remember and abhor the days of our old crappy vacuums and giving them hair cuts. What a pain in the butt!
I remember doing the same thing with our horrible vacuum. I would go all crazy cleaning the stupid vacuum to get it to work. My husband got home and was not happy that I had pretty much taken our vacuum apart. Needless to say, we could use a new vacuum now.
This looks great! I always have tons of hair in my vacuum. My own hair is probably the worst. The cats hair as well but not as much as my hair gets stuck.
Wow, now that sounds like a great vacuum..and wow, what a great giveaway. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hair clogging up my old vacuum was such a huge problem! Congrats on putting that battle to rest and I am glad you were able to enjoy some quality time with your family.
I can remember wanting to nest when i was pregnant with my kids. I love your photo. I wish i had of done a maternity shoot.
We have a husky and I could use the brush roll! Hair everywhere at our house!
That is a nice vacuum. We have the same issues with our 3 cats. . WE get so much junk it it.
I've spent lots of time cutting hair out of our vacuum cleaner! With two girls and myself, we have to do this regularly.
I am so with you. I wasn't nesting much, but it all cought up with me after I had a baby. I am on the market for a new vaccum cleaner. The one, that will actually get the job done
I used to have this old Kirby and the roller would get so disgusting. I love this new technology that keeps me from having to clean that nasy brush out.
I would really love to try this vac out! I hate having to cut out the nasty hair in my vac's roller brush!
Sounds like a handy vacuum. I have had some bad luck with vacuums in my house.
Ugh! I have totally done that with vaccums. Love your maternity pictures!!
I'm the shedder in my house, so I totally recognize that hair clump. The new one sounds like just the thing!
Awwww, I remember nesting. I definitely am a shedder, I have so much hair and it falls out.
gotta love the nesting phase. i swear i got more done inthose 2 days than i did in a month lol
