If you have children or babies, you know that getting a moment by yourself without any interruption is a rare and beautiful thing! Thankfully, Acorn recently sent me a gift card so I could accomplish some necessary shopping during Sam’s Club Baby Days!  While there, I was able to bask in the air conditioning, and shop to my heart’s content while Tall Dad watched the kiddos.

This Labor Day weekend was perfect. We were able to see friends who lived far away, went to a polo match and the beach, ate lobster, and even had a fire in our fire pit. It was fast paced, full of feedings, naps, and diaper changes, but it was a whole lot of fun.

After our company left, Tall Dad and I began to clean up the house a bit, and we put our children down for a nap. I knew it was time for me to tackle some of my shopping to-do list, and I asked my husband if I could have a couple of hours to myself.

Because shopping without children in tow is like taking a mini vacation.

I mean, seriously. All of you parents reading this right now better be shaking your heads in agreement – or raising your right hand in the air saying “Amen, sister!”

I LOVE shopping without my kids.

First, I stopped and got myself an iced coffee.

I listened to MY favorite music during the car ride and you can better believe it WASN’T Dragon Racing from the How To Train Your Dragon 2 Soundtrack

I got a cart inside the store without worrying about my toddler darting off into the dangerous parking lot, and rolled my shoulders back with ease since I wasn’t wearing a newborn in a baby carrier.

I waltzed, nay, I pranced up to the man checking memberships, and proudly showed him my card.

“Nice shirt,” he said with a smile.

It was at that very moment that I realized that I was so excited to get out of my house and shop at Sam’s Club by myself, that I had forgotten to change out of my pajamas. I was wearing pajama pants and a Jurassic Park t-shirt.

But this man’s enthusiasm for my throwback t-shirt was genuine, and so was the smile I gave back to him.

Because I didn’t care that I was in my pajamas. Sure, there was spit up on my sleeve, and peanut butter on my thigh.  My hair was a mess, and I don’t even want to think of how wretched I smelled.

I was on vacation. For 90 minutes – I was free to be me!

The first thing I saw inside was a GIANT  stack of diapers. I mean seriously guys, check this out!

I grabbed some Pampers Swaddlers for my little baby, and was thrilled to see such a low price tag above the box. You see, during the month of September, Sam’s Club is celebrating Baby Days by saving on big packs for little ones – like on Pampers and Dreft products. With two kids two and under, our household goes through A LOT of diapers and laundry detergent. Finding ways to save money on items like these is pretty much my part time job.
I used to love shopping at Sam’s Club with my parents growing up. The biggest attraction to me at the time were the delicious free samples I would munch on while we strolled the isles. I always equated the store with being a place to purchase food, but it is actually so much more than that.
They have all sorts of items, mostly in bulk, but even other items that you can buy for kids and babies that aren’t in bulk – but still at the same savings. For example, their book selection is amazing!

I grabbed several Halloween themed board books, and even a Mickey Mouse book for my toddler.

Then I turned a corner to find baby and toddler clothes – also at super low prices. Some outfits were just under five dollars. I picked up some cute Carter’s brand outfits and sleeper sets for both kids.

It’s kinda funny how much fun I had shopping for items like laundry detergent and diapers, but it really was relaxing.

My family means the world to me, and I’d do anything for them, but sometimes I just need a little break away from them. My shopping trip was a Mommy’s Time Out, and I was able to check off items on my to-do list!

Talk soon friends,
